A constantly updated collection of the most illuminating and extraordinary videos online.
My friends and I enjoy sharing videos we like on facebook and stumbleupon but wanted something more self-contained, so decided to build a website, inspired by sites like devour and bestofyoutube. Whilst the idea may not be original, I think that the quality and range of what we cover makes us stand out. As well as including new finds the site aims to archive interesting videos, with the aim of being the most comprehensive collection of what we like online (+ with the hope that other people will find the site useful as well). We tend to feature a wide range of stuff but generally avoid adverts, videos of kittens or people falling over. Many thanks to the MeFites who have posted links to videos that have been put on the site. C+C welcome as well as suggestions for videos that should be added.

Hey athere Colourp,

Looks realy good, love the best of you tube style sites - they get credence by being continually updated mind, so if you can manage to do be constantly updating, I'm sure you will go far.

Every now and then all of the video thumbnails go a bit crazy for me (perhaps when first loading the site for example) they will all skip around and jumble but straight away fall into place. Is this some super clever jquery script that my computer doesn't like or am I missing something?

What I would definately suggest is pick a nice impactful tag line that also explains actually what you do and have it as the strap line for your websites / marketing / Title of your webpage.

As in instead of "Videovium.com | quality, not novelty"
something like "Videovium.com | a collection of inspiring video treasures"

or even something super cheeky like
"Videovium.com | the most comprehensive collection of video treasure online * "
and then a little * down below something like : "Well...we're aiming to be - is there something incredible that you have found? Let us know"
So you could come across as a super authority on cool videos whilst also happy to take any helpful ideas from your fans that find awesome stuff as well?

Also: "Inspiring " videos are a brilliant idea. But apply a modicum of caution when including music videos because they are entirely down to your taste and others may be averse to such similar musical tastes (this is entirely discounting "amazing videos" that accompany music videos such as the sea-faring might mouse video and the "I am your grandma" video"

Damned good work :) - You are in my favorites and I will be definately be checking back up on you colourp

Cogentesque- thank-you for taking the time to post your comments, it's much appreciated. Sorry for replying so long after your post, I've been on holiday for most of August, enjoying some time away from the internet.
The thumbnails issue is something we are looking at, theres a simpler way of doing things, which means the thumbnails don't fly about, but overall more stable.
Agree about the tagline, going to work on this, your suggestion may end up being used ;-)
Can't disagree about the issue of personal taste either, though this will always be something we have negotiate. It's a fine balance- too niche and we'll alienate potential viewers, but our personal choices are what will make the site different from the similar websites that also feature a lot of the same videos as we do.
Technical changes may not be forthcoming for a while, our site engineer is working on other projects atm, but hoping to keep the site updated and keep giving you reasons to return.
Thanks again!
