Students Decide to Make the World Better...Through Human-Centered Design
Undergraduates and faculty take on local (but scalable!) design challenges to create social impact. Design for America was launched a year and a half ago, tackling MRSA and C Diff reduction through better hand hygiene compliance, designing a toy to help children with diabetes get comfortable with habits that help with health maintenance and compliance, designing a process that reduces hundreds of gallons of water waste in institutional settings, and designing proposals for a reduction in the use of disposable water bottles . Now we've decided to put the prize monies we've won back out into the world to see what other college students can do to help save the world's fresh water using design. Intuitive shower anyone?

i have been thinking about the intuitive shower design since i looked at this post, and i'm really hoping it becomes a widespread feature or option. thank you for posting this!

that shower idea is pretty sweet, actually. Sort of hard to believe it hasn't taken off. My only question would be: does the saved water outweigh the production costs and the electricity it would take to run the motion censor?
