Porchlight: A Literary Magazine
I wanted to create an online literary magazine that presented fiction, poetry, and non-fiction in concert with good design.
Most literary magazines present their contributors' work with minimal design or illustration. I wanted to create something that was visually appealing, while also full of interesting stories, essays, and poems that you might not find elsewhere. Fortunately, my husband is a graphic designer and I have considerable experience in editing. Currently, all our contributors are students in the MFA program at Columbia University, but we hope that subsequent issues will feature work from writers and artists around the country.
From our site:
"Porchlight is first and foremost about storytelling through art, image, and word. We believe there will always be a need for well-told stories that capture our imagination, poems that catch our ear, essays that make us think, and images that cause us to reflect."
You can download a PDF of the first issue from the homepage for free. I encourage all MeFites to submit their work for future issues!!
