After a lot of encouragement from fellow MeFites about writing more, I went and started up a fiction blog. Each week I'll give the untold story behind some minor news item, do some Monday morning quarterbacking on some bit of popular fiction, or reveal a secret history you might not be aware of because I just made it up.

A chunk of the content has been pulled from past efforts here on Metafilter. The rest, though, is previously-unseen.

I have very little WordPress experience. So any pointers regarding site design, which widget to plugin to my API tachyon cannons, and other stuff I clearly don't understand would be very, very appreciated. Seriously. It took me three hours to install a lone plugin today, and I'm still not sure how I did it.

Everything I know about Web 2.0 tells me that you should rename the site to "A Winnr is Me!" You're welcome.

Rock on! If I may be selfish, my only concern here is that you still have a responsibility for robocop is bleeding quality comments on MeFi regardless of your outside pursuits.

Of course, now I have a new addiction - watching the referrer logs to see where the heck people are coming from. Did you know that my new blog is the #1 Google result for a search for "batman bane rape symbol"? Well, you know now and that knowledge has probably displaced the name of a sandbox acquaintance from kindergarten in your memory. In a few years, you will revisit your hometown and you will run in to her. She will know your name right off, but you, poor you, will just blurt out "BATMAN BANE RAPE SYMBOL!" in response.** She will shake her head, walk away, and remember that you poured sand on her head and that she never liked you much anyways.

I'll try to keep up with Mefi contributions, cavalier, but between a busier job, a nascent blog, and the novel, it may be a struggle.

Are we allowed reruns?
